1/11/10-1/15/10

This week we got a new topic. The topic was astronomy. We learned that as the moon rotates, the changes in phases and the names of the phases. The indirect or direct rays of sun cause the change of phases I think. :/ The moon contributes to the tides of the earth. For example, the moon pulls on the water creating tides. We also learned about seasons. Indirect or direct rays by the sun cause seasons. For example, if you are in the northern hemisphere and are closest to the sun, it is winter. We are getting indirect rays at that time. For the southern hemisphere, it is the opposite. We used two simulators to see the phases of the moon and the second one was for the seasons. It is important to know this because if you randomly decide to go surfing, you would want to know what the tide will be like. Also, you would probably would like to know what season it is if you are going surfing and don’t want to look out the window or check the web. If you were an astronomer this would be important to know to (duh).
